Sakao Japanese Tea

Powdered Hojicha


Green tea leaves are roasted at high temperature to give a coffee colour and a pleasant nutty flavour. Because of the roasting process, Hojicha is very low in caffeine and it is perfect with meals and to drink in the evening.


  1. Put the powder in a tea bowl. 1 teaspoon (about 2.5-3gr)  for one person.
  2. Pour 60ml of hot water (90-95 degrees) into the bowl.
  3. Whisk the tea either with tea whisk (chasen) or with an electric mixer.

Option: Add Milk of your choice, honey or maple syrup
