Almonds for ALS

Almonds for ALS was founded in January 2021 by Mitzi, a Montreal-based finance professional who is also the primary caregiver to her father, who has ALS.

ALS is an always fatal progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It is currently affecting approximately 3,000 Canadians. 1 in 50,000 are diagnosed each year.

ALS eventually leads to the demise of the body’s motor neurons. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. Those afflicted eventually lose the ability to speak, eat, move and breathe, and die.

To give back to the ALS Society of Quebec and help support those affected by this horrendous disease, Mitzi decided to sell her homemade cinnamon sugar almonds and donate part of the profits. Help her make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS!
